Celebrating the life of

Peter James Johnson

January 31, 1994 - August 27, 2015

Peter James Johnson

SAVANNAH – Peter James Johnson, 21, died August 27, 2015, in Savannah, Georgia. He was born January 31, 1994, in Tallahassee, Florida, and lived in Savannah his entire life. Peter was attending East Georgia College with the hopes of later transferring to the University of Georgia to major in English.

Peter grew up as a member of St. James Parish and served as an altar server in his younger years. He swam for many years as a member of The Landings Lightning Bolts and the Savannah Swim Team, where he still holds the record for 10&U, 200 yard short course breaststroke.

Peter had a bright and quick mind, and he was creative and insightful, always seeing and expressing his experiences in his own unique and witty way, much to the amusement of his family and friends. He loved listening to and playing music of all kinds, especially the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Peter was a voracious reader, loving Shakespeare and science fiction alike.  He was an avid movie buff, watching every filmed version of “Les Misérables” he could find, and he was a sucker for romantic comedies.   Above all, he loved his family and friends. Peter would do anything for the people he cared about.

Surviving are his parents, Susan and David Johnson; birth parents, Sonja Atkins and Terry Joell; brothers, Matthew Johnson and Ryan Atkins; maternal grandmother, Virginia M. Dress; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that any remembrances in his memory be made to the charity of your choice.
